Fashion Fifteen

Guys, fall is here. It's a great time of year full of pumpkin flavored everything, traditions & holidays, changing leaves, and cooling temperatures (not sure how many falling leaves or temperatures I'll be experiencing this fall...pretty sure palm trees don’t change colors...)

Along with all the wonderful things that come with fall, there's also the fashion. Just because summer temps are hanging around doesn't mean we can't dress the part, and to kick off this glorious season, I give you my fall fifteen. These are my essentials this year (and I’m sure if they aren’t already there, many of these will find their way into your wardrobe this season too). Of course...there's a few that didn't make the list that are still great fall items BUT if I could only choose fifteen must-have, could’t-live-without items, it would be these:

1. A [Neutral] Rainbow of Booties
Expanding my collection this year with my two most
recent additions pictured above. I'll take one in every
shade of neutral, please!

2. Boyfriend Jeans
A must have all year, honestly. Wear them with
anything: Booties and a Buttondowns, check.
Slip ons & a super soft tee? Don't mind if I do.

3. Black Waxed Denim
Or at least a pair of black denim to
dress up or down any look.

4. Plaid Lumberjack Buttondowns
Nothing says fall like a good plaid print.
And perfect for layering.

5. Chambray Top
Same idea as the plaid buttondown but a little simpler.
You guys know I love a good chambray top.

6. A Grab-&-Go Scarf
Choose one that you can wear with practically anything.
I love mixing prints so I encourage
you to be a little bold in your choosing.

7. Black Leggings
I'm a firm believer in leggings when worn appropriately.
(i.e. with longer tops or to the gym. No exceptions.)

8. Oversize Cardigan
Because it's fall so it will be cold sometimes.
And because when it comes to sweaters,
oversize is always better.

9. Hat
Everyone has there own preference here.
I love a good slouchy knit hat. But I am on the look out
for a wool hat...I'm thinking a nice camel or oxblood color.

10. Slip Ons
So. Many. Options.
Hello, Casual Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday.

11. Tons of Tees
Serious fall essential...super soft is a must.
Pair with your scarf, any denim, leggings,
layer it with a chambray or plaid button down.
You get the idea.

12. Kimono
If there ever was a season for layering, it's fall.
Kimonos make the cut.

13. Vest
An obvious fall essential that doesn’t really need
an explanation. All I’m gonna say is fur (or faux).

14. Dark & Pastel Nail Polish
Olive, royal blue, lavender, pale pink...
opposites attract and this fall,
I'm totally obsessed with these nail colors.

15. Fun Phone Case
Well unless you've been living under a rock,
you know the iPhone 6 is out
AND I've already hopped on that bandwagon.
Waited in line at 6am (one of those crazies) but I lurve it.
If you're still hanging on to the older versions
(or if you have a galaxy)
Code 30NOW for 30% off!
Hoping they will be available for the iPhone 6 soon
but until then...I'm on the look out for a fun iphone 6 case.
Any suggestions?

And there it is. What do you think? Do these make your list or am I forgetting something essential?

On the Side: Crispy Parmesan Edamame

I'm gonna go ahead & say "You're welcome." This recipe is simple & sure to be your new favorite snack (or side).

The first time I tried edamame, I was hooked. Healthy, tasty, & they pair well with so many things from salads to sushi to my guilty please, mac & cheese. (Seriously, throw some shelled edamame in with your M&C next time.)

And even though edamame are practically perfect as is, it's nice to switch things up. Crispy Parmesan Edmame. So. Good. The recipe is below, and you'll notice there are no measurements for the ingredients–it's all about preference here, so knock yourself out with flavor.

Summer Scarves: The Waterfall

Labor Day Weekend signifies the kick-off of fall, my favorite season and the start to the best time of year. Fall doesn't officially begin for a few more weeks, but that won't stop many of us,  myself included, from dressing the part (more on my must have fall fashions coming soon).

This post marks my last in the summer scarves series (check out the rest of the series HERE & HERE), and it's definitely a more transitional scarf style that is sure to be your go to as the weather cools down, but you can still make it work on the warmer days by pairing a lightweight scarf with denim boyfriend shorts & an oversized linen button down.

The Waterfall is similar to an infinity styled scarf, except you're only tying two of the corners together to create a waterfall-esque effect. This video (shot by the one & only Zack Hardy) has a tutorial for creating the Waterfall scarf (2:39) as well as a few other scarf styles to get you ready for the cool weather the come.
